This year’s Halloween party provided many opportunities for all of the ghosts, goblins, and other costumed guests to experience something spooky and fun. This year we decided to allow the kids to work and enjoy the day however they chose, rather than putting the houses together for the whole party. Thankfully, our creative workshop leaders and game planners have worked hard to provide everyone with we hope will be a truly memorable experience...no matter where they chose to spend their morning!
The CS1 students were part of an Alice in Wonderland themed murder-mystery party for the morning, while the rest of the school signed up for different workshops they liked. They chose between baking with Ms. Katerina, drama with Ms. Olga, art with Ms. Aga, and an escape room with Ms. Janita. While the older students were busy solving a murder, the younger students also competed in some Halloween games to earn points for their houses. The Wonkas were 1st, Matildas 2nd, Foxes 3rd, and Twits 4th. In CS1, the Cheshire Cat and Red Queen won best costume, the White Rabbit won best acting, the Red Queen won the trivia game, and the King of Hearts was the murderer (but nobody solved it correctly)!
After a break for lunch and free-time, we all came together for a photo competition in the tent. Twits won Best Teamwork, Most Creative, and Scariest while Matildas won Most Funny for the photo. At the end of a very full day of sleuthing, crafting, and many other Halloween experiences, we couldn’t leave without a disco of course!
These events are such a great opportunity for the students to develop their teamwork, non-academic skills, and for them to enjoy time with friends. It was a very Happy Halloween for ISO! You can see the house point totals below for any I didn’t mention above.
