In Y3 we are learning about earthquakes and volcanoes!
Author: Eleni Kefala
It’s been a very exciting IPC unit for Y3! The unit “Active Planet” goes all the way in exploring earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis, tornadoes etc. We started the unit with a role play Entry point where we pretended to be doctors and nurses in a Hospital treating earthquake victims. The children brought equipment and tools from home and dressed up as doctors. We cooperated with Y4 and Y2 who acted as the victims. Since then, we’ve been exploring earthquakes and volcanoes more closely by making seismographs and earthquake-proof buildings, designing clothing and protective gear for volcanologists, making our own survival kit, designing rescue robots and more. We are excited to see what the unit brings next!
