Celebrating the journeys of our former students to inspire the next generation.
- Could you please introduce yourself?
- My name is Urko. After ISO, I came back to Spain to finish my High School, so I could later study Architecture. While I thought Architecture was my choice, I decided to change direction after one year of studies and started Digital and Global Humanities, gaining many enriching experiences. Now I am doing my Master’s in Public Institutions, Innovation in Politics and Democracy.
- How has ISO influenced your career path and contributed to where you are today?
- ISO has been one of the most valuable and enriching experiences of my life. Learning from a young age in a community with personalized attention, while being fully engaged, fosters growth in a safe environment. Making learning fun builds lifelong curiosity and core memories. The experience, values, and guidance from ISO professionals are invaluable for anyone considering teaching. Learning in English has opened many doors — I have worked in Ireland and participated in projects in Hungary, Malta, and Spain. ISO also strengthened my mindset, confidence, and self-esteem for future steps.
- What is one key skill or value from ISO that helped you?
- One skill ISO has helped me develop is combining serious but enjoyable tasks with “non-serious” activities like artistic expression, group work, and time with friends. It has also taught me to see learning not just as acquiring knowledge, but as something to apply creatively through projects. Over time, this approach evolves into a methodology that helps you create, engage, and participate mindfully in different projects.
- What advice would you give to our current students?
- One piece of advice I would give is to participate joyfully in the many activities the school offers and to learn from people different from you. Be as creative as you want — this is the right space to explore freely. As long as your creations are loving and respectful, there is no right or wrong. What you create matters and holds great value!
