We look forward to seeing you all again. Last week we sent via post information regarding the beginning of the new school year. It seems that our traditional Welcome Packs did not reach all households. Thus you can find the information sent below plus some additional news...
Dear parents,
We would like to inform you about the organization of the new academic year and some small changes that we have introduced.
The new academic year will commence on Tuesday 1st September 2020 at 8 a.m. All students will use the main entrance to the school and will get changed by their lockers. Then they will proceed to their classrooms and at 8:30 a.m. there will be an assembly in the gym, which you are welcome to attend. The purpose of the assembly is to introduce the new teachers and pupils and welcome everyone back to school. After the assembly students will go to their respective classrooms and continue their day with their class teachers. The things to bring on Monday will be school bags, slippers and pencil cases. Lessons will finish at 1:50 p.m. for all students. The After School Club will be available from 2nd September.
ASC
Starting from 2nd September all students (Y1 to Y6) can attend the After School Club. If you are interested in using this facility, please fill in the After School Club Registration Form and the Early Pick Up Form (if your child is to be picked up before 3 p.m.) which you have received by post. These filled-in documents need to be handed in to your child’s class teacher on the first day of school in the morning. If you have not received these documents, please contact Ms Barbora Vraštilová who will send you an electronic copy.
Please note that on 2nd September the After School Club can only be attended by those children who hand in a filled-in and signed copy of the After School Club Registration Form on 1st September.
Lunches
We would like to kindly ask you to check the order at www.strava.cz that works for those who handed in the registration form in June and received the login details via email from the Řezníčkova canteen. Your lunch will be ordered automatically from 1st September if it has been paid for. Please make sure you have transferred the right sum of money to the account 107-7710220237/0100 using the personal number of the diner given as the variable symbol by the Řezníčkova cafeteria. In case lunch needs to be cancelled, this has to be done before 9 a.m. on the day before.
For new students the registration forms are available in the Head Office. Lunches need to be ordered or cancelled by 9:00 am for the next day. There is an exception for weekends – the lunch for Monday needs to be ordered/cancelled by 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Please make sure that the lunch for your child/children has been ordered for the first day of school.
Calendars
On the school intranet you can find our Academic Calendar which shows when the children are off school. Also, every year we publish the School Calendar which shows all the events and special days which will be held in the school during the year. Furthermore you will be able to access the Homework Timetable available on the intranet which is used to give you more details about the homework set by the teachers. Due to a positive response to the use of Google Classroom during the lockdown period, we are currently considering its further use for an effective distribution of information and details regarding homework.
All the school rules, parents‘ handbooks and other regulations are available on our website or the intranet and they are constantly being updated. We would like to ask you to familiarize yourselves with them.
Access to the school building
If your phone number is registered in the system, you should be able to enter the school premises through the front gate. The gate at the back will no longer be open in the morning. Please bear in mind that driving through the school premises is not allowed due to safety reasons. Please use the car park by the front gate to drop off and pick up your children.
Who to contact?
If you have any questions regarding lessons, study materials, results or your child´s absence, please contact your child´s class or subject teacher first. Questions to do with the overall organization of lessons or the Czech Programme need to be sent to Ms Eva Pluskalová (Headteacher). Queries regarding all financial matters are the responsibility of Mr Petr Pospíšil (Proprietor).
Information channel
As of September you will no longer receive our Newsletter. All the important information will be published in the NEWS section on the school´s website. The information related to individual classes will now be sent out by class teachers. At the moment we are discussing the most effective ways to distribute information from teachers to parents. Could we please ask you to check our web pages on a regular basis so that no important news is overlooked.
Also, we would like to ask you to check your registered email regularly. You will soon receive a welcome email from your child´s class teacher who will introduce him/herself and give you some information about the first couple of days back at school. As part of this email you will receive a link to the annual update of your personal details and a form to inform us about the people authorised to collect your children from school. Could you please fill in all these documents promptly and use the update to help us improve the quality of our mutual communication.
I believe that this letter has managed to answer at least some of your questions and that we will all see each other in the school on 1st September.
Lastly I would like to remind you to hand in the paperwork that you have received by post to your child’s teacher at your earliest convenience, ideally during the first week of school. The parents of our new students have also received an invitation to a meeting with the school management which will be held on Tuesday 8th September 2020 at 4 p.m.
We look forward to seeing you all on 1st September.

They will gain perfect knowledge of English.
Your child will become a global citizen with wide understanding of local and international topics.
We put a strong emphasis on the development on subject specific skills rather than on acquisition of knowledge.
Emphasis on skills development (not just memorising).
Individual approach; school’s ability to motivate for improvement.
Your child will be excited to come to school.
You are not buying success, you are paying for the school to monitor your child’s progress to their goals and motivate them to fulfil their potential.
We are not a selective school: we believe that everybody can be successful.
Jolly Phonics is an engaging way to teach children pre -reading and pre -writing skills using phonics. Phonics is the teaching of the sounds that letters make, rather than the names of letters that are taught in the alphabet, because it is the sounds that are useful for reading and writing, not the names. These sounds are taught in a systematic way, alongside all of the skills needed for being a fluent reader and writer in future. Jolly Phonics also teaches all of this in a fun and engaging way, through characters, stories, actions, songs and games! To read more about Jolly Phonics, clickhere.
ORT is a reading scheme which has been developed to help children learn to read from the age of 4.
