In response to the school closure ordered by the government emergency regulations we are publishing details regarding the tuition fees reimbursements for March...
In March the Czech government and the Ministry of Health imposed a ban regarding the presence of children in schools. This resulted in closure of both primary and lower secondary schools from 11/March. Subsequently, due to the reduction of the number of children attending our preschool we decided to also close the preschool provision from 18/March including the Toddler's group Lions.
Soon after the closure as prescribed by the Labour Act and with the information we had at that time we asked our teacher to remain at home since we were unable to assign work to them. Following the Labour Act, staff in Preschool and School were paid 100% salary compensations and staff in the Toddlers' group Lions 60% salary compensation. Within about a week we started with the distance learning programme and asked our teachers to partially return to work. Thanks to the government funding program Antivirus school received 80% of the paid salary compensations in school and 60% in preschool. The total amount received in March from the Czech government was cca 220 thousand czech crowns.
While closed the school was able to reduce some overheads. On the other hand, in order to enable the distance learning program and to prepare all the legal documentation for staff and the ministry there were some new expenses incurred (IT equipment, development of the distance curriculum content, licences, legal services). Taking into account the funding received, savings and the additional expenses the total value of the reimbursement program is 210 thousand czech crowns. This is the maximum amount we can use in March to compensate tuition fees paid during the school closure. Further financial implications significantly above this amount could cause some financial troubles in an already difficult situation with raising teachers' salaries.
