We are releasing a new updated version of our distance learning programme...
The first week of our online schooling is drawing to an end.
We have created historically the first non-contact virtual learning programme in International School Olomouc demo version Online 1.0. We would like to hear from you regarding any comments in relation to the technical set-up, the teaching and learning or any ideas as of how to make the programme even more effective. We will appreciate any form of feedback. After all, it is still a work in progress and it keeps changing just like the opening times of shops for the elderly these days.
The following week will bring an updated version 2.0 of the programme enriched with some new developments.
So what you can expect to see in this improved Internatinal School Olomouc Online version 2.0?
1/ There will be more subjects which so far have not been offered online:
PE for all Years supported by lesson plans and videos
Science for Y7 and Y8
Spanish for Y7 and Y8
2/All the teachers are now using their own permanent video links. Therefore, one video link per teacher.
3/We are now preparing another video with the instructions to achieve an easier and more effective way of submitting homework. This should eliminate all printing, scanning, taking photos and emailing of students’ work.
Students will receive new updated versions of their timetables. These will be used as of Monday 30 March 2020. We would like to ask that students observe these timetables and timings closely.
In addition, we also have one important recommendation related to the web browser which starts Lifesize – the software used for our video sessions. The one to use is Google Chrome which does not require any further installations and the connection is therefore the most straightforward and simple.
We assume that you do not need to glue your children to their chairs at home and to cheer up a bit we are sending the introduction video to our P.E. classes, which will be starting next week: PE VIDEO INTRO
Please send your ideas and comments to info@ischool.cz by 27 March, 12 o’clock. The staff will discuss them as part of our online meeting.
Whishing you all good health and a not-too-distant demise of the coronavirus.
They will gain perfect knowledge of English.
Your child will become a global citizen with wide understanding of local and international topics.
We put a strong emphasis on the development on subject specific skills rather than on acquisition of knowledge.
Emphasis on skills development (not just memorising).
Individual approach; school’s ability to motivate for improvement.
Your child will be excited to come to school.
You are not buying success, you are paying for the school to monitor your child’s progress to their goals and motivate them to fulfil their potential.
We are not a selective school: we believe that everybody can be successful.
Jolly Phonics is an engaging way to teach children pre -reading and pre -writing skills using phonics. Phonics is the teaching of the sounds that letters make, rather than the names of letters that are taught in the alphabet, because it is the sounds that are useful for reading and writing, not the names. These sounds are taught in a systematic way, alongside all of the skills needed for being a fluent reader and writer in future. Jolly Phonics also teaches all of this in a fun and engaging way, through characters, stories, actions, songs and games! To read more about Jolly Phonics, clickhere.
ORT is a reading scheme which has been developed to help children learn to read from the age of 4. This scheme is used by a vast majority of preschools and schools in the UK and around the world.ORT includes popular characters and illustrations such as Biff, Chip and Kipper, Floppy, Wordless Stories and easy regular word books to capture children’s imagination and interest and help them develop their pre reading skills. It is an excellent way to practise the skills learned through the Jolly Phonics Programme..
Cambridge Primary ENGLISH promotes an enquiry-based approach, developing learners’ confidence, creativity and intellectual engagement. Learners develop English skills that they can apply to a range of different purposes and audiences in everyday situations and in study.
We teach English as a first language. Pupils that are only starting to learn English or need some additional support are allocated to our intensive English as a Second Language (ESL) programme.

Knowing your times tables facts without practical application and without developing alongside some good problem solving skills is not that helpful - in our school, we make sure our pupils know why they are learning it and how they can use the specific knowledge and skill.
