Our response to the measures ordered by the Czech government is focusing on students’ learning.
Until announced otherwise Preschool (Lions, Nursery, Reception) is closed from Wednesday 18.3. In case of any changes we will inform you without delay. As informed in the email communication, you can apply for funding to care for children under 10 years old. More details below.
Primary & Lower Secondary (Y1 - Y11) - We have confirmed the fact that the directive issued by the Health Ministry is also applicable to all foreign schools in the Czech Republic providing compulsory school education according to the article 38. Act no. 561/2004 Col. Therefore, the primary and lower secondary schools must remain closed as ordered by national authorities.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR PARENTS/CARERS
It is possible to apply for state financial support if you, as a parent, must stay at home with a child who is younger than 10 years old due to closure of the child's educational setting. There is an electronic version of the relevant application form that can be accessed here: Application form. If you want to apply for this support, please fill in the form electronically and send, ideally in .pdf format, directly to info@ischool.cz. We will then place an electronic signature on the form and send it back to you. Alternatively, you can contact eva.pluskalova@ischool.cz or petra.leonhardtova@ischool.cz and agree to a pick up time to collect a paper version of this application.
TUITION FEES REIMBURSEMENT
Since the closure of the school has been ordered by the national authorities we are currently investigating financial impacts on the school from the business and HR point of view. We have not been able to gather all the information from all relevant sources and government offices. As soon as we are clear about the course of action, we will inform you without delay. Currently, we must put children first and we are working hard together with our teachers to see how we can support their education.
DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAM IN PRIMARY/LOWER SECONDARY
As we do not know for how long the directive will be in action, we want to continue developing a distance learning program for all students. At the moment all class teachers and subject teachers have been asked to continue assigning work via emails to all learners. In addition, we are prepared to organize and run regular both individual and class sessions using the Lifesize video conferencing tool. This may enrich the program greatly and provide support to you as parents and also to learners. The objectives of the individual and class conferences are to: take away some pressure from parents, check and review progress with tasks and assignments and to provide children opportunities to interact with teachers and each other. Please, support your children in allowing them to use a computer with a webcam and headset.
They will gain perfect knowledge of English.

Jolly Phonics is an engaging way to teach children pre -reading and pre -writing skills using phonics. Phonics is the teaching of the sounds that letters make, rather than the names of letters that are taught in the alphabet, because it is the sounds that are useful for reading and writing, not the names. These sounds are taught in a systematic way, alongside all of the skills needed for being a fluent reader and writer in future. ORT is a reading scheme which has been developed to help children learn to read from the age of 4. This scheme is used by a vast majority of preschools and schools in the UK and around the world.ORT includes popular characters and illustrations such as Biff, Chip and Kipper, Floppy, Wordless Stories and easy regular word books to capture children’s imagination and interest and help them develop their pre reading skills. It is an excellent way to practise the skills learned through the Jolly Phonics Programme..
Cambridge Primary ENGLISH promotes an enquiry-based approach, developing learners’ confidence, creativity and intellectual engagement. Learners develop English skills that they can apply to a range of different purposes and audiences in everyday situations and in study.
We teach English as a first language. Pupils that are only starting to learn English or need some additional support are allocated to our intensive English as a Second Language (ESL) programme.
More about Cambridge Primary EnglishCambridge Primary MATHEMATICS focuses on principles, patterns, systems, functions and relationships so that learners can apply their mathematical knowledge and develop a holistic understanding of the subject. Knowing your times tables facts without practical application and without developing alongside some good problem solving skills is not that helpful - in our school, we make sure our pupils know why they are learning it and how they can use the specific knowledge and skill.
