We are publishing a new standard tuition fees list and payment terms & conditions for the next school year, which will be valid from September 2021. Information on the plan for gradual price increases and info about planned offer of new services.
In the last school year before the outbreak of the COVID crisis, we were dealing with an absolutely unprecedented increase in wages in teachers' salaries and the effects of such an increase on school finances. In this context, several meetings with parents took place in the autumn of 2019 and a questionnaire survey, according to which we subsequently decided whether to maintain the British school model at the cost of gradually increasing tuition fees or rebuild the educational program towards a bilingual model and apply for state subsidies.
Subsequently, we made a strategic decision to maintain the exclusivity and the British international education model. In this context, and following the increase in wages, we increased our tuition fees by 13.5% last year. According to the plan (see attached) communicated last year, tuition fees were to increase again this year by another 12.5% for the next school year. However, given yet another unprecedented situation, which occurred shortly after we made this very important long-term decision, we feel that it is necessary to adjust the published plan for gradual increase in tuition fees.
So instead of the planned increase in prices by 12.5%, in the next school year there will be an increase in tuition fees in the toddlers's group, preschool, primary and lower secondary school by only CZK 3,000 for the whole year. This is an increase of only 2% compared to this year and compared to the originally planned increase of 12.5%. This decision will, of course, have an impact primarily on the dynamics of wage growth for school staff. This school year has been and will probably be a large part of online teaching. Of course, there are also many parents who suffered significant economic as well as other impacts of the COVID crisis. I am convinced that, in this new situation, it is necessary to show a degree of solidarity on all sides and to re-evaluate the decisions already taken.
Below you can download the updated price list and payment terms for the school year 2021/2022, which will take effect on September 1, 2021. Other changes in the content of the contractual conditions relate to prices for individual courses, fees for textbooks within the Czech program, the method of payment of tuition fees and, above all, termination of attendance, where the content was harmonized with concluded education contracts.
As this is a substantial change on our part, parents and legal guardians have the opportunity to withdraw from the contract in writing within 30 days (until 28.2.2021 at the very latest) of the publication of the new price list and the conditions. Therefore, if you send us a written withdrawal from the contract within 30 days due to changes, the attendance of your child or children will end on June 30, 2021 and there will be no automatic renewal of the contract for the next school year.
We ask parents to get acquainted with the new price list and contractual conditions. At the beginning of February, a program of school-supported discounts on tuition fees, the so-called BURSARY program, will also be announced for the next school year. In this program, it will be possible, on the basis of a statement and proof of the family's financial situation, to apply for financial support for the next school year.
In order to at least partially compensate for the shortfall in planned revenues and generally strengthen the revenue side of the school budget, we plan and prepare an offer of new services within our developing Flexi school. These services will cover tutoring children and pupils in the distance form, individual full-time and distance courses in selected areas of the British educational program, and we have also made progress with the preparation of the British Summer School in Olomouc.
I hope that the above information will be positive for you and we wish all parents, children, grandparents and teachers to be healthy. We also wish everyone optimism and endurance. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us. We will do our best to manage everything together.
