New Pen Pals for Year 3
by Daniel Burke
Year 3 have new pen pals! They have begun writing to my former students in Vietnam. Over the past few weeks our year 3 students in ISO have been trading letters with year 3 students in Morningstar International School, Hanoi. Just like our school, the students come from many different countries, including Japan, Korean, Indonesia, and of course, Vietnam. As part of the pen pal program our children took a trip to the post office to send Christmas cards to their Morningstar counterparts. Christmas is not as traditionally observed in Vietnam but over the past few years it has grown in popularity. It is hoped that our children will receive cards for the Vietnamese New Year celebration called ‘TET’. This is a great opportunity for the children to learn about another culture and I hope they will continue to stay in touch with their pen pals for years to come.
